Class Description: Understand the operation and safe handling of a pistol. You will learn about parts and nomenclature, weapon operation and basic tactics used to effectively use the weapon. Upon class completion, you will be able to load and unload the weapon, troubleshoot some basic malfunctions, safely manipulate your weapon and effectively engage a static target. Split session classes means that the classroom portion and range portion are on two different days. This is due to the lack of availability of range time to coincide with the class schedule
Class Location: 7679 Limestone Drive, Ste 125 Gainesville, VA
Target Attendee: Student with zero to basic knowledge of pistols. Pre or post purchase of weapon. Also applies to student who needs an overall refresher of basic concepts.
Requirements: US Citizenship and good legal standing. No weapon is required but you are welcome to bring your own for familiarity. NO LIVE AMMUNITION IN CLASSROOM.
RANGE TIME: You will need at least 50 rounds of 9mm or whatever ammunition you have for your pistol that you would like to shoot. If you do not have it or do not know what to purchase, you can email me or can pay me for ammunition that I may possibly be able to make available. No Tracer or armor piercing rounds.
Learning Goals: Be able to safely handle a pistol, identify ammunition calibers, options and accessories, how to load and unload the weapon, execution of basic shooting skills and shooting fundamentals and successful target engagement.
Class Format: 6-8 hours total. 4 hours In house and 2-4 hours on the range. Class will be tailored to the capability of the students and their ability to obtain competency.
*Satisfactory completion of this class will satisfy your requirement for a class for the Virginia Concealed Carry Permit, however it is advised that you take additional classes to be proficient prior to carrying on your person.
